Washington, DC (November 14, 2013) – Mayor Vincent Gray was joined by civic leaders and development partners to celebrate the opening of the Fairway Park apartments in Northeast Washington. The redevelopment of the garden apartments is significant for the preservation of affordable housing. The project will provide 408 units of housing for residents with incomes below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The apartments have energy efficient appliances and a new washer and dryer in every home. Fairway Park offers several other amenities: a community center, a newly-renovated playground, a community garden, and office space for Advisory Neighborhood Commission 5D. Financing for the development comes from Citi Community Capital, Enterprise Community Investment, Inc., Capital One, the DC Housing Finance Agency and the DC Sustainable Energy Utility.
